Akeelah and the Bee 2006

Eleven year-old Akeelah Anderson's life is not easy: her father is dead, her mom ignores her, her brother runs with the local gangbangers. She's smart, but her environment threatens to strangle her aspirations. Responding to a threat by her school's principal, Akeelah participates in a spelling bee to avoid detention for her many absences. Much to her surprise and embarrassment, she wins. Her principal asks her to seek coaching from an English professor named Dr. Larabee for the more prestigious regional bee. As the possibility of making it all the way to the Scripps National Spelling Bee looms, Akeelah could provide her community with someone to rally around and be proud of -- but only if she can overcome her insecurities and her distracting home life. She also must get past Dr. Larabee's demons, and a field of more experienced and privileged fellow spellers.

The Adventures of Maya the Honey Bee 1975

Maya the Bee is an anime television series produced by Zuiyo Enterprise in Japan. The series consisted of 52 episodes and was originally telecast across Japan from April 1975 to April 1976 on the TV Asahi network. Based on the classic children's book Maya the Bee by Waldemar Bonsels, the anime series has become extremely popular in Europe and has been rebroadcast in countries and languages all around the world since its premiere. Two English-dubbed versions of the series exist, a British version, using a translated version of the original theme tune, and featuring British accents for the characters; and a United States version with an entirely new theme tune, produced by Saban Entertainment, which was broadcast from January 1, 1990 to December 31, 1992 on the children's television channel Nickelodeon. Maya the Bee aired alongside other juvenile-targeted anime such as Adventures of the Little Koala, Noozles and The Littl' Bits as part of Nickelodeon's Nick Jr. block of programming for young children. A second Maya the Bee series, Shin Mitsubachi Māya no Bōken, was a co-production made in 1979 by Wako Productions and Austrian/German Apollo Film, Wien. The second series first premiered in Germany from September 1979 to September 1980. The very different and cartoon-like second series, which lasted for 52 episodes, wasn't very popular and did not premiere in Japan until October 1982, on TV Osaka, and aired through September 1983. Ten episodes from this series were added to 45 from the original for the U.S. broadcast run, bringing the total of Maya episodes aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S. to 55.

Beetlejuice 1989

Beetlejuice is an American-Canadian animated television series which ran from September 9, 1989 to October 26, 1991 on ABC and, on Fox from September 9, 1991 to December 6, 1991. Loosely based on the 1988 film of the same name, it was developed and executive-produced by the film's director, Tim Burton. The series focus on the life of goth girl Lydia Deetz and her undead friend Beetlejuice as they explore the world, called The Neitherworld, a wacky afterlife realm inhabited by monsters, ghosts, ghouls and zombies. Danny Elfman's theme for the film was arranged for the cartoon by Elfman himself.

The Bee Gees Special was a 90-minute television special broadcast by NBC on November 15, 1979. The program featured footage from the Bee Gees' July 10, 1979 concert in Oakland, California captured by a film crew that accompanied them during their 1979 Spirits Having Flown Tour. It also included footage from an appearance with Willie Nelson and Glen Campbell, interviews by David Frost with the Bee Gees and their parents, and a behind-the-scenes look at recording and tour planning with Robert Stigwood and the band's crew.

Ishiyama High is a school populated entirely by delinquents, where nonstop violence and lawlessness are the norm. As if finding the future Lord of the Underworld isn't enough, Oga is also confronted by Hildegard, Beel's demon maid. Together they attempt to raise Baby Beel—although surrounded by juvenile delinquents and demonic powers, the two of them may be in for more of a challenge than they can imagine.

Oliver Beene is an American sitcom that premiered on Fox on March 9, 2003. The show was created by Howard Gewirtz. Set in 1962 and 1963, the show chronicled the trials and tribulations of the 11-to-12-year-old Oliver Beene, in first person perspective. Oliver Beene's other main characters are his parents Jerry and Charlotte Beene, his brother Ted Beene, and his two friends Joyce and Michael. The narrator, an older Oliver reflecting on his experience, is voiced by David Cross. Often in episodes, the story is interrupted by flashbacks and flash-forwards.

Beet the Vandel Buster 2005

Beet the Vandel Buster is a manga and anime series written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada. The manga was published in Shueisha's Monthly Shōnen Jump in Japan until the illustrator Inada became ill. The magazine later ceased publication leaving the future of the manga unknown at this time. VIZ Media publishes the manga in English. The anime was produced by Toei Animation and was aired on TV Tokyo. The anime had 52 episodes and the sequel Beet the Vandel Buster Excellion had 25 episodes. The anime has been licensed in North America by Illumitoon Entertainment, they released one DVD containing 4 episodes with an English dub track, but there is still no word as of this day if there will be any further releases, or if the anime is going to be shown in North America again. The story takes place in a fantasy world where humans have been suffering from the attacks of the demon-like Vandels. Humans can fight back by becoming a Vandel Buster, a paid monster and Vandel assassin. The protagonist of the story, Beet, is a young boy who becomes a Vandel Buster to be like his heroes, the Zenon Warriors.

The Beechgrove Garden

The Beechgrove Garden is a television programme originally broadcast from 1978 on BBC Two Scotland and, since 10 April 2007, on BBC One Scotland. It is a gardening programme. The original plot of land used was the small area of garden attached to the BBC studios in Beechgrove Terrace, Aberdeen. Due to its small size, the programme's popularity and the fact the garden had been transformed several times over, a new area of ground to the west of Aberdeen was acquired for the programme. The original presenters on the programme included Dick Gardiner, Jim McColl and George Barron. Barron retired in the 1980s and was replaced by Carole Baxter. As of 2010 McColl and Baxter still present the show, joined by Carolyn Spray and Lesley Watson. Other regular contributors include George Anderson, and the BBC Scotland weather presenters Heather Reid, Gail McGrane and Peter Sloss, who present forecasts on the show. A sister programme, The Beechgrove Potting Shed, is broadcast weekly on BBC Radio Scotland, presented by Theresa Talbot. The theme tune for the show is the jig "Miss Tara MacAdam". The show was once parodied in the BBC Scotland comedy sketch show Scotch and Wry, with Rikki Fulton as George Barron and Gregor Fisher as Jim McColl "growing" whisky.

You Have Been Watching 2009

You Have Been Watching is a British comedy panel game presented by Charlie Brooker, produced by Zeppotron for Channel 4 and filmed at BBC Television Centre and Riverside Studios in London. It first aired on 7 July 2009, for a weekly eight-episode run. The show's title is a reference to sitcoms written by David Croft such as Dad's Army, 'Allo 'Allo!, Are You Being Served? and It Ain't Half Hot Mum which ended with the caption "You have been watching", which was then followed by the cast list. A second series of the show began on 15 April 2010 and ended prematurely by a week due to the Cumbria shootings; the final episode having been postponed because it is a crime special. The crime special was eventually broadcast on 4 August 2010, albeit airing on E4 rather than Channel 4.
